The Williamson County Symphony Orchestra (WCSO) continues its 2013-2014 season with two FREE Christmas “pops” concerts on December 13 and 14 with both concerts starting at 7:30 PM.

The concerts are tailored for families with the concert length being an hour and twenty minutes. The Orchestra is Williamson County’s oldest & largest and is performing in its twelfth season.

Friday, December 13
St Margaret Mary Catholic Church
1101 West New Hope Drive in Cedar Park (see map)

Saturday, December 14
St William Catholic Church
620 Round Rock West Drive in Round Rock just off of McNeil Road (see map)

Both are beautiful venues for a Christmas concert!

The theme for the Christmas “pops” concerts is “Music That Lifts the Spirit”:

A lively Tchaikovsky will get the concert and spirits jumping with Russian Dance from The Nutcracker. In the piece, Overture to Merry Christmas, Robert Wendel, composer for the Philadelphia Orchestra, has crafted a clever rendition of Joy to the World as if Mozart composed it instead of themes by Handel being used. The Orchestra will also play Wendel’s exciting arrangement of Carol of the Bells.

Crowd favorites such as The Christmas Song by Mel Torme, Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson, and Suite from the Polar Express, by Alan Silvestri will be sprinkled in to create that sense of Christmas season. And the Orchestra always performs Armed Forces Salute, our annual holiday tribute to those who serve our nation.

And there is much more!!

As a special treat, the Orchestra will perform one of the greatest finales in all of classical music, the fourth movement of Pines of Rome, by Respighi which was included in the Disney movie Fantasia 2000.

We look forward to seeing you there!
