As the year 2015 comes to a close, let the Williamson County Symphony Orchestra bring you some joy, laughter, and good feelings that is also easy on your pocketbook (FREE!) during this Christmas season.
The Orchestra will play several of the universally beloved dances from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker. The concert includes Mel Torme’s The Christmas Song and the rollicking Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson. Dr. Rainey has created a unique arrangement for the Orchestra of Percy Foreman’s Brazilian Sleigh Bells that requires eight percussionists to create all of the lively sounds in the piece – which will rock the venue.
The Orchestra will perform exciting versions of numerous Christmas carols in Christmas Festival which was arranged by Leroy Anderson for the Boston Pops 65 years ago. And contemporary composer Robert Wendel has created a fabulous rendition of Carol of the Bells.
In addition, the Orchestra will present two special treats this concert series: a world premiere of our Composer-in-Residence Dr. M L Daniels’ new piece, Joy and Glory, O’ Bethlehem, which musically describes the events around the birth of Jesus. And our Director of Music, Dr. Thomas E Rainey, has composed an original piece, Sloane Everly, for the Orchestra to premiere.
And there will be more!
